Job Description

About the role

Reporting to the Sales Manager and working closely with the Branch Manager, the Business Development Manager is responsible for driving growth in our LPG and Industrial Gases portfolio in and around the Canberra region. This role focuses on developing new business, growing market share, and fostering strong customer relationships, while always upholding Supagas’ commitment to safety, compliance, and our “Yes We Can” culture.

You will own your designated territory, proactively identify customer needs, and represent Supagas as the primary point of contact for both internal and external stakeholders.

Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Proactively develop new business through face-to-face cold calling, lead follow-up, and networking.
  • Grow sales of LPG and Industrial Gases in and around the Canberra region.
  • Achieve agreed sales targets and KPIs, including cold call activity and conversion rates.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and industry professionals.
  • Identify market trends, competitor activity, and new opportunities, and report insights to the Sales Manager.
  • Maintain accurate daily sales activity records and monthly market and sales forecasts.
  • Promote the benefits of Supagas products and services.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams to maximise customer service outcomes.
  • Ensure safety, compliance, and accurate completion of all documentation at all times.

Desired Skills and Experience

Skills & Experience 

  • Experience in a business development or sales role.
  • Gas industry experience is advantageous but not essential.
  • Proven ability to negotiate, influence, and close deals.
  • Strong new business development capability, including designing call cycles and identifying growth opportunities.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Highly organised with strong time management and planning skills.
  • Resilient, adaptable, and able to perform in a high-pressure, target-driven environment.
  • A team player with a positive attitude who embodies Supagas’ “Yes We Can” ethos.
  • The successful candidate will be required to attend a pre-employment medical examination.
