About the role

Supagas is on the hunt for an Electrical and Instrumentation Technician to support our Maintenance Team located in Kwinana. This is a permanent role ready for immediate start that offers variety, autonomy and the opportunity to work across LPG facilities and a growing network of Industrial gas depots.

Your focus will be to maintain and inspect electrical and instrumentation assets across LPG depots and bulk storage, cylinder filling and handling equipment, industrial gas facilities and fixed and portable gas detection systems.

The role includes handson maintenance, minor installation works, inspection activities and support for facility upgrades.

You will be tasked with:

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled electrical and instrumentation maintenance, including troubleshooting and fault rectification.
  • Calibrate and maintain instrumentation and fixed gas detection equipment.
  • Assist with installation works for new or upgraded assets including wiring, terminations and equipment installation in hazardous areas.
  • Conduct precommissioning checks and support commissioning of electrical and instrumentation equipment.
  • Participate in project reviews including hazard and operability activities.
  • Carry out hazardous area inspections (visual, close or detailed) and maintain the accuracy of Hazardous Area Verification Dossiers by completing required maintenance reports and updating inspection registers.
  • Ensure explosionprotected equipment is maintained to certified requirements, including Ex d, Ex e and Ex i systems.
  • Follow all site safety procedures and actively participate in risk assessments and permit systems.
  • Provide accurate maintenance feedback to improve planning, reliability and efficiency.
  • Participate in an afterhours callout roster and respond to unplanned maintenance when required.
  • Travel periodically to remote customer or mine sites to perform maintenance.

Desired Skills and Experience

You have:

  • A Grade Unrestricted Electrical Worker Licence.
  • Trade qualification in Electrical or E&I disciplines.
  • Certificate IV in Hazardous Areas (Electrical) or equivalent.
  • Experience maintaining electrical and instrumentation equipment in hazardous areas, including installation, maintenance and inspection tasks consistent with AS/NZS 60079 requirements.
  • PLC and SCADA exposure (fault finding or basic programming).
  • Strong diagnostic skills and experience with instrumentation used in gas industry applications.
  • Ability to plan and selfmanage workload to meet competing priorities.
  • A strong and consistent safety focus.
  • Current Australian Drivers Licence and ability to obtain a National Police Clearance.
