About the role

Reporting to the Sales Manager and working closely with the Branch Manager, the Business Development Manager is responsible for driving growth in our LPG and Industrial Gases portfolio in and around the Canberra region. You will own your designated territory, proactively identify customer needs, and represent Supagas as the primary point of contact for customers.

Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Grow sales of LPG and Industrial Gases in and around the Canberra region.
  • Proactively develop new business through face-to-face cold calling, lead follow-up, and networking.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and industry professionals.
  • Identify market trends, competitor activity, and new opportunities
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams to maximise customer service outcomes.
  • Ensure safety, compliance, and accurate completion of all documentation at all times.

Desired Skills and Experience

Skills & Experience 

  • Experience in a business development or sales role.
  • Proven ability to negotiate, influence, and close deals.
  • Strong new business development capability, including designing call cycles and identifying growth opportunities.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Highly organised with strong time management and planning skills.
  • Resilient, adaptable, and able to perform in a high-pressure, target-driven environment.
  • Gas industry experience is advantageous but not essential.
  • A team player with a positive attitude who embodies Supagas’ “Yes We Can” ethos.
  • The successful candidate will be required to attend a pre-employment medical examination.
