About the Role

Reporting to the Operations Finance Manager, we have a full-time, permanent opportunity for an Operations Accountant to join our Liverpool Head Office.

This role plays a critical part in strengthening financial control, compliance, and operational performance across the business. You will be responsible for accounting and reporting across inventory, fixed assets, manufacturing, and freight, while partnering closely with operational teams to deliver insights and drive efficiencies.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain the fixed asset register, including capitalisation, depreciation, disposals, and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Oversee inventory accounting, including valuation, reconciliations, stock movements, and provisioning.
  • Review and analyse freight and distribution costs, ensuring accurate accruals, allocations, and contractor payments.
  • Support manufacturing and operations accounting, including standard costing and cost analysis for operational activities.
  • Prepare month-end journals, balance sheet reconciliations, and reporting across operations finance areas.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting for inventory and capital expenditure.
  • Develop and maintain strong internal controls and standard operating procedures across inventory and fixed assets.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, JSOX requirements, and relevant regulatory frameworks.
  • Partner with operations, procurement, and project teams to provide insights, improve decision-making, and enhance financial outcomes.
  • Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives across systems, processes, and reporting.
  • Support audit processes and act as a key point of contact for operational accounting queries.

Desired Skills and Experience

What we are looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
  • Commenced CA/CPA qualification
  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience in a similar accounting role
  • Experience in process improvement and systems enhancement
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and business partnering capability
  • Experience with variance analysis and delivering actionable insights
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, particularly in inventory and fixed assets
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and time management skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes
  • The successful candidate will be required to attend a pre-employment medical examination.
